Gatsbi Patent Disclosure Tutorial: From Notes to a Reviewed Draft

This tutorial shows how to prepare an invention-disclosure draft in Gatsbi for internal review or discussion with a patent professional. Start with authorized invention notes or an expanded concept, preserve unresolved technical details, and check the generated text against those materials. Drafting a disclosure does not establish novelty, non-obviousness or patentability, and does not file an application.

The steps below show the Gatsbi Innovator route, starting with an expanded idea. If you already have research notes or other materials, the separate Gatsbi Writer tutorial describes entering text or attaching a DOCX document and choosing an available drafting purpose. Use the route that matches your input; the Innovator controls shown below are not the Writer import steps.

Prerequisites

For the Innovator route shown in this tutorial, prepare the following before generating a draft:

• You have selected a specific idea in the ideation phase
• The idea has been expanded into a concrete implementation with Gatsbi
• You have determined your preferred output language

Understanding Patent Disclosure Generation

In the version shown here, the idea expansion interface provides the following controls at the bottom of the screen:

1. Switch Mode: Change your writing purpose from "Research" mode to "Patent" mode using the toggle switch
2. Select Language: Choose your desired language from the dropdown menu
3. Generate: Click the "Write a Patent Disclosure" button to start the generation process

Document Components

Depending on the input and selected workflow, the draft may organize background, technical descriptions, proposed embodiments, drawings and related material. Inspect the actual output and the recipient’s requirements. Any draft claims or suggested alternatives require professional and technical review before further use. Keep corrections and unresolved questions with the draft. Open the exported file outside Gatsbi to confirm that drawings, labels and the reviewed text survived export.
